So, the first 5 year period for professional drivers to obtain their driver CPC has come & gone. The last 5 years has been relatively successful, government figures show that an estimated 98% of both PSV & HGV drivers completed the required 5 days of periodic training in the allowed time.
There was plenty of objection to the driver CPC legislation from companies & drivers alike. Drivers felt that they were being taught to "suck eggs", that were was nothing new they could be taught. Companies felt that it put unnecessary strain on their operation with drivers being off the road and additional rest days.
So what is next? Will there be a change in the regulation? Will 1 day per year become mandatory?
We will see. What are your thoughts?
